| "UNIVATES was created from the mobilization of various leaderships in the Taquari Valley. They were people who engaged to build in our region a solid and representative institution addressing the promotion of quality Higher Education. Thirty seven years later, we are still working hard to make UNIVATES achieve the goals which were set by those who conceived it. Quality in education has been a target we pursue daily. The publication of the results of the Student Performance National Examination in 2005 confirmed we are following the right path. Our program of Letters was considered the best in Brazil, obtaining grade 5, the highest one granted in this assessment. As to the other 4 undergraduate courses evaluated, History was considered the best in our State with grade 4, and Biology (grade 4), Industrial Chemistry (grade 3) and Pedagogy (grade 4) ranked among the best ones in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. These results make us proud, but also increase our responsibility. More than granting diplomas and preparing future professionals, we intend to prepare citizens aware of their commitment with their local community and the world. However, we cannot do so if we ourselves fail in our commitment. This is where originates our concern for promoting economic development and social well-being for the Taquari Valley inhabitants, as well as our involvement in matters that contribute for such goals to be achieved. Relying on the qualification of our faculty, the constant improvement of our facilities and structure, and the delivery of quality Higher Education, we do believe we are doing our share so that more people can participate in the construction of a fairer society."
