Univates: a history of dedication to our community

Located in Lajeado, on January 17, 1969, the first undergraduate programs were created as an extension of Caxias do Sul University; in 1972 it was created a local foundation.

In 1999, UNIVATES kept by the Taquari Valley Foundation for Education and Social Development (FUVATES) was accredited as a University Center. This gave it autonomy to set goals and design strategies to accomplish the proposal of generating and disseminating expertise, in consonance with local needs and world trends.

As a community institution with non-profitable purposes, UNIVATES participates as a propelling agent of changes, planned growth and local development. During all these years of dedication to teaching and the regional growth, UNIVATES has prepared 3,624 students in undergraduate programs, and 574 in the technical courses.

Generating, intermediating and disseminating technical-scientific and humanistic expertise, taking into account the regional specificities and needs, within a more global context, aiming at continuously expanding a fruitful life style.
