| dc.description.abstract | Com o aumento da população idosa no mundo, um importante ponto a ser discutido é a formação profissional dos futuros responsáveis pelo cuidado da população idosa. Afinal, é de extrema importância que os cirurgiões-dentistas conheçam detalhadamente a biologia do envelhecimento e suas peculiaridades, bem como as inúmeras afecções e doenças bucais que compartilham fatores de risco das doenças sistêmicas para essa população. Numa perspectiva de futuro da odontogeriatria, a demanda odontológica tornar-se-á cada vez maior, sendo necessária a implementação de currículos que permitam uma melhor preparação e desenvolvimento do tema, na graduação. Assim, esta monografia foi desenvolvida com o objetivo de avaliar a situação atual do ensino de Odontogeriatria nas faculdades de Odontologia no Brasil. A metodologia deste estudo descritivo e analítico transversal envolve a avaliação da situação atual do ensino em Odontogeriatria, usando o questionário criado pelo Colégio Europeu de Gerontologia, traduzido e adaptado para o Brasil. As universidades brasileiras que possuem o curso de Odontologia foram identificadas por meio de buscas baseadas na web e no Sistema de Regulação do Ensino Superior (e-MEC). O contato foi realizado via e-mail para fazer o convite aos diretores destas Faculdades de Odontologia para participar da pesquisa. Do total de 412 instituições, 53 responderam ao questionário, sendo 38 privadas, o que corresponde a 71,6% do total, contra 15 públicas (28,3%). Das 15 instituições privadas com o curso de Odontologia no Sul do país que responderam ao questionário, 53,3% oferecem a disciplina, diferente das instituições públicas que possuem a porcentagem de 42,8%. Nenhuma das instituições que responderam o questionário possuem um curso de pós-graduação dedicado exclusivamente à Odontogeriatria. Em face da expansão da população idosa, tais achados nos levam a refletir sobre a forma em que "cuidamos" dessa grande parcela populacional e, principalmente, como "ensinamos" esse cuidado ao futuro profissional de saúde. O investimento na qualificação profissional e no conhecimento e esclarecimento da população, acerca das questões pertinentes ao envelhecimento, torna-se mais que necessário e adequado para o momento de transição que vivemos. Dessa forma, os resultados encontrados reafirmam a necessidade da elaboração de novas pesquisas, utilizando outros métodos de coleta de informações, e a importância da transparência das instituições em tornar públicos seus Projetos Políticos Pedagógicos. | pt_BR |
| dc.description.abstract | With the increase in the elderly population worldwide, an important point to be discussed is the professional training of those who will be responsible for the care of the elderly population. After all, it is extremely important that dental surgeons have a detailed knowledge of the biology of aging and its peculiarities, as well as of the numerous oral diseases and disorders that share risk factors of systemic diseases for this population. In a perspective of the future of Geriatric Dentistry, the demand for dentistry will increase, requiring the implementation of curriculums that allow for a better preparation and development of the subject, in graduation. Therefore, this monograph was developed with the objective of evaluating the current situation of the teaching of Geriatric Dentistry in Brazilian dental schools. The methodology of this descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study involves the evaluation of the current situation of teaching in Geriatric Dentistry, using the questionnaire created by the European College of Gerontology, adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. The Brazilian universities that have a Dentistry course were identified through web-based searches and the Higher Education Regulation System (e-MEC). Contact was made via e-mail to invite the directors of these dental schools to participate in the survey. Of the total of 412 institutions, 53 answered the questionnaire, 38 were private, which corresponds to 71.6% of the total, against 15 public (28.3%). Of the 15 private institutions with a Dentistry course in the South of the country that answered the questionnaire, 53.3% offer the discipline, unlike the public institutions, which have a percentage of 42.8%. None of the institutions that answered the questionnaire have a graduate course dedicated exclusively to Odontogeriatrics. Given the expansion of the elderly population, these findings lead us to reflect on the way we "care" for this large portion of the population and, especially, how we "teach" this care to the future health professional. The investment in professional qualification and in the knowledge and clarification of the population about the issues related to aging becomes more than necessary and appropriate for the transition moment we live in. Thus, the results found reaffirm the need for further research, using other methods of information collection, and the importance of transparency of institutions in making their Political Pedagogical Projects public. | pt_BR |
