International Seminar "The Communitarian Model in Higher Education" takes p

In order to promote the understanding of the communitarian model, as well as its potential for the expansion of Brazilian higher education with quality, the University of Passo Fundo (UPF) receives, on May 7th  and 8th, the international seminar " The Communitarian Model in Higher Education: a vision of the future ".
A UPF’s initiative, in partnership with the Consortium of Gaucho Communitarian Universities (Comung), the event will be attended by authorities on the theme, who will address the concept of communitarian university, alternatives and perspectives in funding, studies and research on the subject, as well as promote reflection by projecting a vision for the future. The official opening will be on May 7th, in the auditorium of the Odontology Program of UPF.
 
Registrations
The Seminar aims to promote the communitarian model, triggering debates and reflections on the potential of non-state public institutions for the expansion of Brazilian higher education, with academic quality and economic sustainability. The approach turns its attention to the communitarian model, facing the current challenges of Brazilian higher education. Registration is free and can be made until May 3th at www.upf.br/eventos.
 The event brings together members of Comung and the Association of Santa Catarina of Educational Foundations (Acafe); rectors and managers of Communitarian Institutions of Higher Education; public managers; representatives of the Ministry of Education, the State Department of Education, the Municipal Secretariats of Education; as well as researchers, teachers and students interested in the subject.
 
Programming
During the event, topics such as the history and constitution of Communitarian Institutions of Higher Education (Ices) will be discussed; as well as alternatives and funding perspectives for students; current context, perspectives and vision of the future of the communitarian model. The seminar will also have the socialization of researches and theses developed regarding the communitarian model, making possible to problematize it as an alternative to face the challenge of expanding the rates of access to higher education in Brazil.
