Abstract
A série Heartstopper, de Alice Oseman, é uma graphic novel que explora identidade de gênero e sexualidade na literatura juvenil contemporânea. A trama acompanha Nick Nelson e Charlie Spring, alunos do ensino médio, cuja amizade se transforma em romance, abordando temas como autodescoberta e os desafios enfrentados por jovens LGBTQIAPN+. Este estudo analisa a construção da identidade de gênero de Nick a partir da Teoria da Performatividade de Gênero de Judith Butler, investigando como suas ações e interações refletem e desafiam normas sociais. A trajetória do personagem revela a fluidez da identidade e destaca a importância de narrativas autênticas na promoção da diversidade e inclusão. Heartstopper transcende o entretenimento ao funcionar como um espaço de reflexão sobre experiências LGBTQIAPN+, incentivando empatia e discussão crítica entre jovens leitores. Além de representar positivamente essa vivência, a obra oferece ferramentas valiosas para a educação ao abordar temas sensíveis e contribuir para debates acadêmicos. Conclui-se que a série amplia o diálogo sobre diversidade, ajudando na formação de uma sociedade mais justa e plural.
