The objective of this study is to apply the thermography methods discussed and perform a thermographic inspection to detect hot spots in the mapped electrical installations. Maintenance will then be scheduled and a new inspection will be performed, comparing the methods and results of the first and second inspections. The thermography case study follows the ABNT NBR 15424, 5462, 15572, 15866 standards and the Petrobrás-linked standard N – 2475. Predictive maintenance serves to guide the maintenance team on the condition status or frequency of the equipment, that is, the ideal time to perform maintenance on the deteriorated component, which is classified through the images collected in the thermographic inspection. The field work was carried out in buildings 13 and 14 of Univates, in Lajeado, RS. In these buildings, normal and thermal images of electric motors were captured, in addition to the most relevant components of the substation and electrical panels. To facilitate the development of the report, an Excel table was created to collect data and images. The table allows the equipment to be evaluated through calculations based on the two methods described. These calculations were developed in Excel to compare the status of the equipment. The results are presented to the Univates maintenance team through a report. The results show that of the methods presented, the FET is the most reliable because it takes into account more factors to define the operating status of the equipment. Comparing the FET and Comparative methods, the reliability in the two Comparative inspections was 87.5%. By applying the FET method in the first and second inspections, 70% of the hot spots were eliminated, and in the remaining points there was a considerable improvement, being in the monthly monitoring state.
