O presente trabalho é resultado de pesquisa realizada acerca de vestígios arqueológicos e análise da paisagem na área interfluvial dos rios Guaporé/RS e Carreiro/RS, localizada na Serra Gaúcha, na região nordeste do Rio Grande do Sul. A área foi alvo de pesquisas arqueológicas esporádicas, com as primeiras investigações tendo sido realizadas no início da década de 1970, e com breves incursões no início dos anos 2000, sendo que houve um grande hiato nas investigações durante muito tempo. Este trabalho surge da necessidade de uma investigação aprofundada da presença de grupos pré-coloniais na área. Considerando a potencialidade da presença humana na região, objetivou-se identificar e registrar pontos de interesse arqueológico com a presença de vestígios materiais entre os rios Guaporé/RS e Carreiro/RS. A metodologia aplicada baseou-se na localização e registro destes pontos a partir de modelos de parâmetro locacional e intensivas atividades de campo, e posteriormente, análise das evidências, relacionando-as com a literatura. Identificou-se 23 pontos com presença de vestígios materiais nas atividades de campo. A variabilidade dos padrões ambientais onde os pontos estão localizados, somados à ampla tecnotipologia dos artefatos demonstram a presença de diferentes grupos, estratégias e temporalidades da presença humana na área. Este trabalho serve de base para pesquisas arqueológicas a serem realizadas na região.
The present work is the result of research carried out on archaeological remains and landscape analysis in the area netween the rivers Guaporé/RS and Carreiro/RS, located in Serra Gaúcha, in the northeast region of Rio Grande do Sul. The area was the target of sporadic archaeological research, with the first investigations having been carried out in the beginning of the 1970s, and with brief incursions in the beginning of the 2000s, with a long hiatus in investigations for a long time. This work arises from the need for a thorough investigation of the presence of pre-colonial groups in the area. Considering the potential of human presence in the region, the objective was to identify and record points of archaeological interest with the presence of material remains between the rivers Guaporé/RS and Carreiro/RS. The applied methodology was based on the location and registration of these points based on locational parameter models and intensive field activities, and later, analysis of the evidences, relating them to the literature. 23 points were identified with the presence of material traces in the field activities. The variability of the environmental patterns where the points are located, added to the wide technotypology of the artifacts demonstrate the presence of different groups, strategies and temporalities of human presence in the area. This work is the basis for archaeological research to be carried out in the region.
