A abertura coronária é definida como a preparação da cavidade para acessar a câmera pulpar e o canal radicular. A sua adequada realização está relacionada com o desfecho das etapas seguintes e com a qualidade do tratamento endodôntico, proporcionando um acesso ameno e direto aos canais. O fracasso do tratamento é conduzido por descumprimento de princípios básicos do acesso e negligências e a experiência profissional pode possuir grande influência no manejo, ao decorrer do procedimento e sucesso do mesmo. O presente estudo visa comparar a perda de massa provocada na abertura coronária realizada por estudantes de Odontologia e cirurgiões dentistas do Sul do Brasil. Possui um caráter experimental laboratorial (in vitro) e foi realizado no Laboratório de pré-clínica da Universidade do Vale do Taquari, em Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Foram selecionados 20 incisivos artificiais centrais direitos, os quais foram previamente pesados e divididos em dois grupos, grupo 1: alunos da Graduação em Odontologia que já tenha cursado o 5° semestre e o grupo 2: constituído por profissionais que tenha ao menos 2 anos de conclusão do curso de Odontologia e com CRO ativo. Após os grupos realizarem a abertura coronária, os elementos foram pesados separadamente em uma balança analítica para fazer o pareamento dos espécimes, assim, foi feita a pesagem antes e depois dos preparos dos corpos de prova para calcular o percentual de perda e diferença de massa na pesagem. Ambos os grupos obtiveram uma perda significativa de massa, porém, quando comparamos a perda de massa em relação a experiência do operador não houve uma discrepância significativa, portanto, pode se alegar que a experiência do operador não possui grande influência no desgaste dentário ao realizar o acesso endodôntico
Coronary opening is defined as the preparation of the cavity to access the pulp chamber and root canal. Its adequate performance is related to the outcome of the following stages and the quality of the endodontic treatment, providing smooth and direct access to the canals. Treatment failure is caused by non-compliance with basic principles of access and negligence and professional experience can have a great influence on management, the course of the procedure and its success. The present study aims to compare the loss of mass caused by coronary opening performed by dentistry students and dental surgeons in southern Brazil. It has an experimental laboratory nature (in vitro) and was carried out in the pre-clinical laboratory of the University of Vale do Taquari, in Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. 20 artificial right central incisors were selected, which were previously weighed and divided into two groups, group 1: undergraduate Dentistry students who have already completed the 5th semester and group 2: consisting of professionals who have at least 2 years of experience. completion of the Dentistry course and with active CRO. After the groups performed the coronary opening, the elements were weighed separately on an analytical balance to pair the specimens, thus, weighing was carried out before and after preparing the specimens to calculate the percentage of loss and difference in mass in the weighing. Both groups obtained a significant loss of mass, however, when we compared the loss of mass in relation to the operator's experience there was no significant discrepancy, therefore, it can be argued that the operator's experience does not have a great influence on tooth wear when performing endodontic access.
