There are 3 big Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) at Univates. The area has its vegetation preserved just like the natural vegetation along Rio Taquari (Taquari River) in Carneiros (a neighbourhood in Lajeado), which is a Permanent Preservation Area because of its riparian woodland.

The surroundings of Univates Head Office are also Permanent Preservation Areas, with reservoirs and native forests. There is access to it from Rua Bento Rosa (Bento Rosa Street) in Carneiros. There is also a PPA in the heart of campus, between buildings 9 and 11. A passage connecting both buildings is a great place to watch Lago da Univates and its natural vegetation.

Altogether, the PPA covers an area of 96.543,39 m².
