Univates has always been environmentally concerned, so in 2002, it launched Programa Interno de Separação de Resíduos – PISR/UNIVATES, a waste management plan launched for the purpose of raising the concern over waste management and recycling among the academic community.
Since Programa Interno de Separação de Resíduos began, it has greatly contributed to environmental control at Univates by managing the five groups of the waste material produced at Univates; adding chlorine to artesian well water; watching water and electricity consumption; adequate sanitation and environmental licensing and permitting.
Waste management and proper use of natural resources are directed to raise awareness of the current environmental situation and make students and employees notice that a sustainable environment may only be achieved through everyone’s effort.
